This is the privacy policy for Dinner Drama, the sassy AI chef app that helps you decide what's for dinner. It's written in plain English because privacy policies should actually be readable.
Who we are
Dinner Drama ("we," "us," or "our") operates this app. If you have questions about this policy or your data, reach us at support@duraventi.com.
1. What Information We Collect
Account information
When you create an account, we collect your email address, username, and a hashed (encrypted) version of your password. We never store your password in plain text.
Content you create
When you use Dinner Drama, we collect the content you generate:
- Messages you send to the AI chef (your chat history)
- Ingredients you type into the pantry feature
- Photos you take of your fridge or pantry
This content is used to generate meal suggestions and recipe recommendations for you.
Usage data
We collect information about how you use the app — which features you use, meals you save or rate, and actions like "I Cooked This" — to personalise your experience and improve suggestions over time.
Push notification tokens
If you allow push notifications, we store a device token so we can send you reminders and updates. You can turn off notifications at any time in your device settings.
In-app purchase records
When you purchase credit packs, the transaction is processed entirely by Apple through the App Store. We receive a receipt confirmation from Apple but do not handle or store your payment card details. Apple's privacy policy governs the payment process.
Referral data
If you participate in the referral program, we store your referral code and track how many people have used it, so we can credit your account.
Advertising attribution and tracking
Dinner Drama uses two advertising attribution services to understand which ads bring people to the app:
- AppsFlyer (SDK 6.18.0) — appsflyer.com/legal/privacy-policy
- TikTok Business SDK (1.7.0) — TikTok Business Products Privacy Policy
These SDKs collect device identifiers — the IDFA and IDFV on iOS, and the Google Advertising ID (GAID) on Android — along with the following in-app events:
- Completing onboarding
- Viewing recipe content
- Starting a credit-pack checkout
- Completing a purchase
This information is shared with AppsFlyer and TikTok as advertising partners, who use it for their own advertising measurement purposes. That is why this qualifies as "tracking" under Apple's App Tracking Transparency rules and as "data sharing" under Google Play's data safety requirements.
The purpose is strictly advertising measurement — knowing which ads lead people to install Dinner Drama so we can spend our advertising budget responsibly. Dinner Drama does not show ads to users. We do not use this data to serve you targeted ads, and we do not sell your personal information.
2. How We Use Your Information
We use the information we collect to:
- Operate and provide the Dinner Drama service
- Generate personalised meal suggestions, recipes, and grocery lists
- Remember your preferences, saved meals, and cooking history
- Send you push notifications (with your permission)
- Process and credit in-app purchases and referrals
- Improve the app and fix problems
- Measure the effectiveness of our advertising (via the attribution partners named in Section 1)
We do not sell your personal information to third parties. Ever.
3. Third-Party AI Providers
This is important: the core features of Dinner Drama — including meal suggestions, recipe generation, fridge photo analysis, grocery lists, and AI chef chat — are powered by third-party AI services.
When you use these features, the content you submit (your chat messages, typed ingredients, and photos of your fridge or pantry) is transmitted to and processed by:
- Anthropic (provider of Claude) — https://www.anthropic.com/privacy
- OpenAI — https://openai.com/privacy
These providers process your inputs in order to generate responses. We only transmit the minimum information needed for each request (the message or image you sent). We do not transmit your name, email address, or account ID to these providers.
Please review Anthropic's and OpenAI's privacy policies if you want to understand how they handle data on their end. Both are well-known AI companies with published data handling practices.
4. Data Storage and Retention
Your account data and app content are stored on secure cloud servers hosted by Railway.
We keep your data while your account is active. If you delete your account, we remove your personal data within 30 days, except for information we must briefly retain for fraud-prevention or legal reasons.
Photos you submit for fridge or pantry analysis are handled transiently: they are passed through Cloudflare R2 and to third-party AI providers only to complete your request, and are not stored permanently by Dinner Drama.
5. Your Rights
You have the right to:
- Access the personal information we hold about you
- Correct inaccurate information
- Delete your account and associated data (see below)
- Opt out of push notifications at any time via your device settings
- Control advertising tracking on your device (see below)
Advertising tracking choices
On iOS: When you first open the app, you'll see a prompt asking for permission to use your advertising identifier (IDFA) for attribution. If you allow it, your IDFA is used as described in Section 1. If you decline, it is not accessed and attribution falls back to Apple's privacy-preserving SKAdNetwork framework. You can change this decision at any time in iOS Settings → Privacy & Security → Tracking.
On Android: You can reset or delete your Google Advertising ID at any time in Android Settings → Privacy → Ads (the exact path varies by device manufacturer). Deleting your advertising ID opts you out of interest-based advertising measurement.
To delete your account and data: You can request account deletion by contacting us at support@duraventi.com. We will process your request within 30 days. Note that some data may be retained for legal or fraud-prevention purposes for a limited period after deletion.
If you are in the European Economic Area (EEA), California, or another jurisdiction with applicable privacy laws, you may have additional rights under those laws (such as GDPR or CCPA). Contact us to exercise any of these rights.
6. Children's Privacy
Dinner Drama is not directed at children under the age of 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child under 13 has provided us with personal information, please contact us and we will delete it promptly.
7. Security
We take reasonable technical and organisational measures to protect your information — including encrypted passwords, secure connections (HTTPS), and access controls on our systems. No system is 100% secure, but we take this seriously.
8. Changes to This Policy
If we make significant changes to this privacy policy, we will notify you through the app or by email before the changes take effect. The "last updated" date at the top of this page will always reflect the most recent version.
